The MPI 886 is a particularly robust thickness measurement system designed for applications where conventional measurement setups reach their mechanical or process-related limits. It was developed specifically for rigid, thick, or difficult-to-guide materials as well as for use in harsh industrial environments. Thanks to the stable Granit-O frame, high-precision linear guides, and sensors moving synchronously on both sides, the system enables precise and reproducible through-feed measurement even across wide thickness ranges. The material moves in a straight line through the system without being deflected by measuring bars.

The MPI 886 really shines when processing hard foams, rigid sheets and webs, thick materials as well as with products that cannot be reliably guided over measuring rollers. Even in dusty or dirty production environments, the system remains practical and provides stable measurements. Measurement is performed simultaneously from above and below, using synchronously driven sensors and centered detection at the center of the material. This results in a reliable solution for in-line thickness measurement when high stability, precise guidance, and a robust mechanical design are critical.

With a thickness range of 0 to 150 mm, the MPI 886 covers a wide range of applications; larger ranges are available upon request.
