MPI 586
Cost-effective thickness measurement system for inline quality assurance
The MPI 586 is a cost-effective thickness measurement system for companies that rely on consistent measurement results and reliable in-line quality assurance in their ongoing production. It is particularly suitable for high-volume standard applications and was developed for rugged use in continuous manufacturing processes. Thanks to its custom design, the system can be precisely integrated into existing lines and supports efficient, reproducible monitoring directly within the process.
The MPI 586 is used, among other things, for PET, PP, PE, ABS, filled films, embossed films, coextruded films, carbon as well as other non-magnetic materials in electrically conductive films. The large measuring range from 10 µm to 12 mm and web widths from 10 mm to 6 m make the system highly versatile—from narrow webs to wide production formats. In addition to inline thickness measurement, depending on the application, strip inspection, width measurement, and continuous process monitoring are also available.
A key advantage of the MPI 586 lies in its practical integration into existing production environments, such as an extruder line or other system-specific installation scenarios. The system really shines, especially at the start of the line when processing soft material. Visualization is provided via Bolt Diagramm and Windows ILF systems, while the measured values are transmitted directly to the PLC, including S7 connectivity and optional OPC UA. This creates a cost-effective solution for anyone who wants to combine reliable thickness measurement in production with clean system integration and high process reliability.
