MPI 786
MPI-786 Thickness Measurement System
Non-contact measurement
The MPI 786 is a high-precision system designed for very thin, transparent, or optically demanding materials. A measuring roller, a laser micrometer, and a magnetic sensor form the measurement unit used to measure the top and bottom surfaces of the film and determine its thickness. The machine was developed to deliver stable results even in situations where standard optical sensors often fail to perform reliably.
Particularly suitable for
- transparent films
- thinnest plastic sheets
- visually appealing products
- Frequently changing product (e.g., black on transparent)

MPI 786
Precise thickness measurement for thin and transparent materials
The MPI 786 is a high-precision thickness measurement system designed for applications where standard optical sensors reach their limits. It was developed specifically for very thin, transparent, and optically challenging materials and enables stable, reproducible in-line thickness measurement directly during the production process. The combination of a measuring roller on the underside and a laser micrometer as well as a magnetic sensor on the top creates a single-sided non-contact measurement setup that delivers reliable results even under difficult optical conditions.
The MPI 786 is particularly suitable for transparent films, the thinnest plastic films and products where color, transparency, or reflection can affect conventional measurement methods. In these applications in particular, a precise and process-reliable measurement solution is essential—one that operates reliably regardless of optical influences. With a measuring range from 5 µm to 3 mm and web widths from 10 mm to 6 m, the system covers a wide range of industrial requirements. Larger measurement ranges are also possible depending on the application.
The MPE 786 is therefore the ideal solution for companies seeking a precise thickness measurement system for transparent materials and requiring maximum measurement stability even with very thin webs. Thanks to its application-specific design, the system can be tailored precisely to the material, process conditions, and installation environment. The result is a high-performance measurement solution for inline quality assurance that combines high precision, process stability, and seamless integration into existing production lines.
